Novell Linux Desktop NetWare Client

Novell’s “Minimum Patch List”

We all have known for a long time that “Microsoft Security” is among the most prevalent of all IT oxymorons.  Here you will find links to articles that will help your quest in proving in yet another way, how NetWare is so much better than anything Microsoft can possibly offer.

As proof, consider that since 2002, Novell has released just over two dozen Security updates for their entire product line. In contrast, Microsoft has so far released well over 100 Security updates - most of them for Windows alone! Note that these don’t include viruses that target Microsoft-based products.  Can you name me a single virus that attacks NetWare?

There were over 10,000 Windows computer viruses as of June 30, 2004 according to Symantec.

In fact, Internet Explorer has been described as “a collection of security holes held together by browser code”.  Check out the Microsoft Security Updates site and see for yourself that there are more Microsoft security issues in one month than there are for Novell products in a year.

Check out Microsoft's amazing history of software and corporate purchases, joint ventures and equity investments. Each acquisition should properly be seen in two ways: first, as an effort on the part of the company to purchase that which it apparently could not invent on its own; and second, as subtracting one from the number of companies which will be permitted to follow its own course, to enrich our technological world, and dare we say it, to compete with Microsoft. Read all about it here!

UPDATE: With the new set of patches (10 August 2006), Microsoft has patched almost as many critical vulnerabilities in the first 8 months of 2006 as it did in 2004 and 2005 combined, security researchers said Wednesday. The year's critical count is 72 percent higher than 2005, when Microsoft issued just 37 critical patches, and more than double 2004's 28 fixes. Read more here.
